Job Description

As an Associate Design Director, you’re a proven design specialist with a knack for the bigger picture. You’re a master of visual hierarchy, scale, balance, contrast, and typography, regardless of the medium. You are comfortable taking a lead role in a multi-disciplinary team and understand the value of mentorship and collaboration to create the best creative solution. With extensive experience in both digital and print, you’re at home in all the modern tools of the trade. You have a passion for staying up to date with the latest design trends and are poised to create the next ones.

In this role you’ll report to the VP, Group Creative Director and will help lead the design efforts on all of our client’s needs. The digital space will be your primary focus — email, social, display, and web — and you’ll be expected to contribute design solutions from concept to final execution, managing your workload independently to meet deadlines. You should be an exceptional presenter, both internally and externally, and be comfortable receiving feedback about your work from a cross-discipline team. You will also manage a team of 3-4 designers providing design direction, feedback, and overall career guidance including quarterly check ins and annual performance reviews. Your Responsibilities:

·       Own the role of design lead on multiple projects at once

·       Collaborate with a cross-discipline team (creative directors, copywriters, animators, developers) to create successful design solutions based on creative briefs

·       Ensure quality of error-free design deliverables

·       Design in and around existing brand standards

·       Create original art and design solutions using the industry leading tools, or grabbing a pencil

·       Work with various disciplines to ensure on time delivery (Account, UX, Dev, Production Artists, etc.)

·       Contribute to creative concepting for client work and new business pitches

·       Design successful brand communication across channels including email, social, display, etc.

·       Stay current on industry trends and standards

·       Mentor other members of the team by providing feedback and inspiration

·       Present your thinking and ideas to internal and client teams both in person and video meetings

·       Manage a team of designers providing on-going creative feedback, career growth mentorship, and periodic performance reviews.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • 7+ years of experience in an advertising or in-house design role including team management experience
  • Possesses strong communication and presentation skills
  • Takes constructive criticism
  • No ego. Collaborates easily and often.
  • Displays good judgement, maturity, and enthusiasm.
  • Experienced multi-tasker
  • Flexible and adaptive to meet changing needs or direction
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite program skills
  • Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma, XD required
  • AfterEffects, HTML, HTML5, CSS knowledge is a plus, but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design OR Creative Portfolio School Certificate OR equivalent design experience preferred

Compensation Range: $98,500 - $165,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
