Job Description
Public Storage is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Art Director to help elevate and evolve our visual brand across social, digital, and marketing channels. Reporting to the Creative Director for Brand & Social, this role blends high-quality execution with system thinking and cross-channel versatility.
You’ll bring ideas to life through thoughtful design, maintain visual consistency across touchpoints, and support the development of an updated brand system. This is a hands-on creative role—ideal for someone who enjoys crafting beautiful, polished work while contributing to broader brand direction.
This is not a people-management role, but you may guide junior designers, freelancers, and content creators on a project basis.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Stewardship & Visual Systems
Ensure all creative follows and elevates the visual identity across channels.
Maintain and refine typographic standards, spacing systems, layout rules, color usage, and imagery.
Help evolve and operationalize brand guidelines, templates, and design systems.
Partner with the Creative Director to ensure all work feels cohesive, modern, and distinctly Public Storage.
Social Content Execution
Design high-quality static, motion, and mixed-media assets for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Adapt creative across formats and platforms while maintaining consistency and clarity.
Translate creative direction into polished social content that is clean, engaging, and audience centric.
Support rapid production cycles without sacrificing craft.
Cross-Functional Creative Support
Design across a wide range of needs: landing pages, digital ads, emails, print collateral, and marketing assets.
Work closely with Marketing, Digital, PR, Customer Care, and Field teams to support enterprise initiatives.
Ensure all creative aligns with brand standards and campaign objectives.
Concept Development & Collaboration
Contribute visual ideation, moodboards, and early-stage concepting for campaigns and social initiatives.
Collaborate with copywriters, producers, and cross-functional partners to execute integrated creative.
Bring fresh thinking, strong aesthetic judgment, and a problem-solving mindset to creative discussions.
Creative Operations & Systems
Support the creation and maintenance of templates, asset libraries, and documentation.
Help identify workflow improvements that increase speed, efficiency, and consistency.
Uphold quality control across final outputs, ensuring accuracy and readiness for delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
6+ years of professional experience in design or art direction across digital, social, and brand environments.
Strong portfolio demonstrating visual systems, clean layouts, social content, and multi-format design.
High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite + Figma (or similar collaborative design tools).
Deep understanding of social-first design, platform formats, and emerging visual trends.
Strong typography, composition, and layout fundamentals.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting work and rationale.
Preferred
Experience working in consumer brands, multi-location retail, or service-driven businesses.
Familiarity with motion graphics, lightweight animation, or video editing.
Experience supporting brand system development or design system implementation.
Exposure to influencer, UGC, or content-creator workflows.
Bilingual or multicultural design experience is a plus.
