Job Description

The Director of Tenant Insurance / Property is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational execution of the tenant insurance program and property claims. This role oversees claims management, program administration, technology integration, training, marketing, and customer service operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory standards. The Director drives continuous improvement across all aspects of the program while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, third-party administrators (TPAs), and external partners. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of tenant insurance claims, ensuring timely, fair, and compliant resolution. 

  • Analyze tentant insurance and property claims data to identify trends, implement loss mitigation strategies, and provide regular reporting to leadership. 

  • Manage relationships with TPAs, including onboarding, performance monitoring, and issue resolution. 

  • Coordinate monthly open item meetings with TPAs and carriers; manage adjuster access to internal systems. 

  • Ensure day-to-day program operations are compliant with internal policies and external regulations. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting systems for program performance. 

  • Support insurance transitions during acquisitions and dispositions, including collections and premium management. 

  • Serve as the primary liaison for BBB complaints and Department of Insurance investigations. 

  • Lead internal or outsourced call center operations, ensuring high-quality customer service and issue resolution. 

  • Monitor call center metrics and implement performance improvements based on feedback and data. 

  • Design and deliver training programs for internal teams and external partners on insurance protocols and customer service. 

  • Manage annual training fulfillment in accordance with state Department of Insurance requirements, including updates to materials, systems, communications, and testing. 

  • Collaborate with IT to integrate insurance platforms with internal systems, ensuring data security and system reliability. 

  • Work with Legal to maintain compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), including policy updates and consent mechanisms. 

  • Coordinate development and distribution of marketing materials to field teams. 

  • Partner with marketing to create educational content and manage vendor relationships for collateral and website updates. 

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. 

  • Develop dashboards to track KPIs, claims ratios, and revenue performance. 

  • Forecast program growth and budget needs. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field; MBA preferred 

  • Professional designations such as CPCU or ARM are highly advantageous 

  • 10+ years of experience in insurance program management, brokerage, or property underwriting, preferably in tenant insurance 

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and build effective partnerships 

  • Must obtain an Insurance Brokerage license within the first 90 days (required in all 50 states) 

  • Proficiency in insurance platforms, CRM systems, and data visualization tools 

  • Experience with RMIS (Risk Management Information Systems) for tracking claims and program performance
