Job Description

Public Storage is looking for a Director, Cloud Operations. This leader will have oversight over the strategy and management of Cloud operations inclusive of implementation, standardization, and management of Engineering and IT Cloud infrastructure services. They will lead the development of IT policies and procedures for maintenance, vendor management and the direct management of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE). 

Responsibilities:

  • Management of cloud infrastructure, server systems, storage, virtualization/containerization, infrastructure development, while partnering with the service delivery and security teams, as well as the application development and digital groups. 
  • Lead the systems, database, and network functional areas.
  • Establish long term IT infrastructure strategy, goals, policies, and procedures for Cloud Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all required security protocols and applicable standards.
  • Direct cloud operations: lifecycle of all systems, virtualization, containers, continuous integration/delivery, databases, object storage, messaging systems, storage, server networks, disaster recovery, and backup systems.
  • Manage the development of strategy, planning and execution of IT core systems disaster recovery management process. 
  • Manage daily operation and staff supporting IT cloud infrastructure.
  • Accountable for planning and efficient use of budget within areas of responsibility.
  • Direct functional area leaders on projects for cloud optimization and automation.
  • Mentor and facilitate professional growth for direct reports.
  • Operations KPIs and reports to executive management on service availability and infrastructure performance.
  • Manages and provides direction to functional area leaders and architects on design and implementation of highly available/distributed services.
  • Manages IT infrastructure & cloud projects including design, budget, and resource assignments.
  • Manage 24/7 on-call coverage of IT infrastructure & cloud; manages partner relationships for the same.
  • Provide evaluation and mentoring for direct reports on performance.
  • Act as a thought leader acting as a critical part of the IT management team.
  • Plan and manage budget for the IT infrastructure in coordination with IT senior leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, business administration or 15 years relevant experience in this field.
  • 10 years leading an infrastructure team within corporate environments.
  • 5 years leading a cloud team within corporate environments.
  • 10 years of direct management experience including budgetary responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Significant leadership experience leading IT Operations Services and Cloud operations.
  • Previous experience managing 3rd party service providers to contractual agreements and customer satisfaction requirements.
  • Windows Active Directory systems administration knowledge.
  • Experience administering Kubernetes clusters and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience administering Openshift infrastructure.
  • Experience administering VMWare vSphere and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure administration.
  • Software development experience and software engineering process knowledge required.
  • Working technical knowledge of modern network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6), BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Working technical knowledge of relational databases like MSSQL or MySQL.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks under time constraints; diplomacy and ability to deal effectively with people.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with diverse functions and levels within the organization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $133,000 - $194,000
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of our total awards approach to compensation which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses or incentives.
