Job Description
Our Advertising technology team is building a holistic advertising platform which will be key to e-commerce company’s ad revenue growth strategy. We will build cutting edge machine learning and optimization algorithms to ingest, model and analyze online and in-store data from e-commerce companies. Importantly, we will build smart systems that deliver relevant retail ads and experiences that connect customers with the brands and products they love and enable advertisers to achieve their product sales goals via campaign activation.
We are immediately hiring a Principal Software Engineer to join our growing team in Redwood City on a hybrid schedule.
The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing end-to-end product features for advertising platform for e-commerce clients, that would have high transactions per second and will include the design and development of Ad-engine, Analytics and API components.
We are looking for self-motivated technical leaders/architects who enjoy working in dynamic, agile development environments as individual contributors in the team. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovative solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver with a strong background in software architecture, development, leadership, and e-commerce AdTech domain.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing and developing software modules for various parts of the system architecture of sponsored Ads Listing product for e-commerce companies.
Understand system architecture and design end to end.
Design systems and solutions which are reliable, available, and scalable.
Drive the architecture/design decisions needed to achieve cost-effective and high-performance results.
Develop portable, high-performance, and high-quality code following the best practices for software development and documentation.
Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to derive the best strategy for product development which will add significant business value
Conduct feasibility analysis and produce functional and design specifications of proposed new features.
Develop and mentor other team members for delivering high quality code and best practices.
Ensure implementation/continuous improvement of formal processes to support product development activities.
Provide helpful and productive code reviews for peers and junior members of the team.
Troubleshoot complex issues discovered in-house as well as in customer environments.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of product design and development experience in languages such as Go lang/C/C++, data analytics technologies.
Experience in implementing sponsored product listing AdEngine for e-commerce company.
Must have implemented ad campaign delivery aspects such as campaign delivery, pacing of the campaigns, budget feedback loop, frequency capping and targeting based on keyword, category, demography, closed loop reporting.
Must have implemented system which handles ad-requests at scale effectively
Good to have experience in using machine learning algorithms click and conversion predictions
Experience in building and architecting highly scalable applications using optimal algorithms, advanced data structures, design patterns, multithreading, memory management and collections framework.
Working experience with relational databases preferably MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases and database concepts, optimization techniques.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
BE/BTech/BS/BCS/MCS/MCA/MS in Computers or equivalent
Base Compensation Range: $170,000 - $200,000
In accordance with applicable law, the above salary range provided is PubMatic’s reasonable estimate of the base salary for this role. The actual amount may vary, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition to salary PubMatic also offers a bonus, restricted stock units and a competitive benefits package.

Return to Office: PubMatic employees throughout the global have returned to our offices via a hybrid work schedule (3 days “in office” and 2 days “working remotely”) that is intended to maximize collaboration, innovation, and productivity among teams and across functions. All PubMatic employees in the US and India are required to be fully vaccinated to return to our offices. Covid-19 boosters are not required at this point in time.
