Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Export Officer to join our team. The Export Officer will be responsible for facilitating and managing the export of products or services to international markets. This role involves coordinating various aspects of the export process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful exports.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Export Documentation: Prepare and manage all necessary export documents, including
invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
2. Compliance: Ensure compliance with international trade laws and regulations, including
export controls, sanctions, and import/export permits.
3. Logistics Coordination: Coordinate shipping and transportation arrangements, including
selecting carriers, booking cargo space, and tracking shipments to their destination.
4. Customer Support: Liaise with international customers and partners to address inquiries, provide shipping information, and resolve any issues related to export orders.
5. Customer Communication: Interact with international customers, shipping agents, and
other stakeholders to facilitate the exchange of information and documentation necessary
for export transactions.
6. Customs Clearance: Work with customs brokers or agencies to facilitate the clearance of goods through customs and ensure smooth import processes in destination countries.
7. Tariff Classification: Determine and classify products according to the Harmonized System (HS) or other applicable codes for accurate tariff and duty assessment.
8. Export Regulations: Stay updated on changes in export regulations and trade policies and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
9. Cost Management: Monitor and control export-related costs, such as shipping, tariffs, and customs fees, to optimize profitability.
10. Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate potential risks in the export process, such as political instability, currency fluctuations, and trade restrictions.
11. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all export transactions, documentation, and
correspondence for auditing and reporting purposes.
12. Market Research: Conduct market research to identify potential export opportunities,
market trends, and competitor activities.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in international business, Export Management, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Proven experience in export operations and international trade.
  3. Strong knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
  4. Proficiency in using export-related software and tools.
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  8. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Additional Information

  1. Familiarity with export finance and payment terms (e.g., letters of credit, open account).
  2. Certification in export management or customs procedures (desired).
