Job Description

The Procurement Officer’s responsibilities including supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases and maintaining accurate records.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and approving products and services to be purchased. 
  • Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Overseeing and supervising employees and all activities of the purchasing department.
  • Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
  • Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
  • Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, among others.
  • Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
  • Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
  • Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies
  • Ensure that the products and supplies are of high quality.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supply, Business Management or a similar field preferred
  • 2 to 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Computer literacy qualification is essential. Proven ability to utilize and develop computerized spreadsheets and word processing applications
  • Procurement Software and Asset Software experience
