For more than a decade, ProgressNow Colorado has been the leading progressive voice online and in the press in Colorado, acting as the public relations shop for the progressive movement and infrastructure in our state. We have supported the communications objectives of allied organizations as their needs have changed, and we have worked to ensure that Coloradans are educated about who represents them and where those individuals stand on issues impacting our families and communities.
ProgressNow Colorado specializes in rapid-response communications and storytelling work, and we have built a base of more than 30,000 supporters across the state, who not only engage with the content we develop online but turn out in person to fight for our shared values—in the capitol, at demonstrations, and at the ballot box. Our approach to traditional and digital media is comprehensive, including digital advertising and targeting, email, text messaging, digital content development, videography, message, and spokesperson development, pitching and developing relationships with local, state, and national press, blogging, research, and news writing.
ProgressNow Colorado Education and ProgressNow Colorado--501(c)(3) organization and 501(c)(4) organizations, respectively--are looking for a Reproductive Rights Organizing and Outreach Fellow. This individual will support the Digital Organizing Director through strategic outreach, event planning, volunteer organizing, communications with allied groups and social media management, ensuring a strong, trusted and consistent presence on social media and other digital assets.
To be successful in this role, this individual should:
Have a general understanding of reproductive rights, and remain current on the evolving reproductive rights landscape in Colorado and across the country.
Be knowledgeable of and comfortable with using social media platforms--including the ability to create engaging designs through programs such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator;
Have robust writing and communication skills--including the ability to understand and distill complex information into concise language; and
Be extremely detail-oriented, well-organized, with strong time management skills.
Support the Digital Organizing Director and other team members in digital content creation and executing social media strategies. This includes providing critical assistance as follows:
Reviewing weekly news and incorporate content into social and digital strategies.
Writing and designing short and long-form digital content for social media platforms.
Drafting, editing, and publishing the organization’s bi-weekly reproductive rights newsletter and action alerts, as needed.
Preparing, planning, and executing digital and in-person events-- including Instagram Live events with partner organizations.
Updating relevant organization websites.
Managing social media inbox messages--including monitoring communications from related organizations, responding and boosting user and brand profiles to grow the Keep Abortion Safe follower base, and reviewing comments for offensive or threatening language that should be removed, blocked, or reported.
Update the organization’s social media calendar to include important anniversaries, holidays, and news related to reproductive rights, sex positivity, LGBTQ+ and other related issues.
Assist with volunteer recruitment and organizing--including Facebook group management, as needed.
Collaborate with the Digital Organizing Director and other team members to self-initiate engagements or campaigns that support the organizations reproductive rights work, based on the Digital Organizing and Outreach Fellow’s professional and developmental interests.
Understanding of and strong commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice.
Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, social justice and intersectional feminism and personal involvement in learning and advocacy.
Working knowledge of or comfort with learning to work with new digital assets--including website builders (e.g., Wix), design platforms (e.g., Canva), email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp), and organizing platforms.
Strong writing, grammar and storytelling skills.
Sound critical thinking skills with the ability to be solutions oriented and identify opportunities for improvement.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills, including an ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Sound time management and organizational skills with the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and produce quality work.
Ability to hear and integrate feedback in a positive and productive manner.
Ability to create and execute paid social media advertising campaigns.
Social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
This is a paid part-time position, up to 20 hours per week.
Salary range: $15.00-$20.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
