We have supported the communications objectives of allied organizations as their needs have changed, and we have worked to ensure that Coloradans are educated about who represents them and where those individuals stand on issues impacting our families and communities. 

ProgressNow Colorado specializes in rapid-response communications and storytelling work, and we have built a base of more than 30,000 supporters across the state, who not only engage with the content we develop online but turn out in person to fight for our shared values—in the capitol, at demonstrations, and at the ballot box. Our approach to traditional and digital media is comprehensive, including digital advertising and targeting, email, text messaging, digital content development, videography, message, and spokesperson development, pitching and developing relationships with local, state, and national press, blogging, research, and news writing. 

Job Description

ProgressNow Colorado Education, a 501(c)(3) and its sister organization, ProgressNow Colorado, 501(c)(4) are looking for a dynamic new Development Director. ProgressNow Colorado, a leader in cutting edge digital, political, and communications programs, focuses on the following in its work:

  • Build a stronger progressive movement in Colorado. Through progressive community networking, digital organizing and innovative communication techniques and campaigns, ProgressNow Colorado works to build a stronger progressive movement in Colorado.

  • Win advances in progressive public policy. Working closely with other progressive organizations and the grassroots community in Colorado, ProgressNow Colorado offers all Coloradans effective, easy, and fun ways to make their voices heard on critical policy decisions that impact our quality of life.

  • Generate hard hitting traditional, earned, and digital media. ProgressNow Colorado efforts generate news coverage that shines the public spotlight on progressive solutions to real problems. 

  • Increase civic participation and educate the public. ProgressNow Colorado activates their members and ensures that the progressive voice is heard on issues that matter and work to educate the public about complex legislative issues that affect their communities.

We are searching for a leader to serve as the full-time Development Director of both ProgressNow Colorado Education and ProgressNow Colorado. The position is based in Denver, Colorado. The Development Director will drive fundraising strategy, support programmatic staff to reach deliverables, and establish and maintain relationships with funders, clients and partners in the progressive community through our work.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Department planning and strategy​ | 

    • Develop and implement a strategic annual fundraising plan and budget to grow our fundraising across all revenue streams, continue to diversify our revenue sources, and ensure we’re achieving our goals. 

    • Oversee and refine all development systems to support effective department operations, including our donor database and acknowledgement processes.

  • 2. Institutional support​ | Drive strategy and execution to secure and grow foundation and institutional support, including all grant/proposal writing, grant reporting, and the development of supporting materials. 

  • 3. Major donor strategy and execution​ | 

    • Grow our individual donor base by developing and executing a coordinated strategy to build relationships with established and prospective donors to maximize funding (this includes managing staff and board to fundraise). 

    • Manage and prioritize the Executive Director’s fundraising efforts and relationships with donors and key foundation and institutional contacts. 

    • Support the ED’s cultivation efforts and direct solicitation of gifts with context, supportive materials, and more. 

    • Develop fundraising pitches that make a compelling case for supporting our work for use in meetings, communications, mailers, proposals, etc. Use top pitches to develop supporting narratives and materials.Plan and execute events aimed at raising major gifts, including an annual event and house parties. 

  • 4. Grassroots Fundraising​ | Expand the base of individual donors and increase revenue from contributions through a variety of fundraising strategies including email marketing, Colorado Gives Day and other campaigns.

  • 5. Compliance | Serve as PNC’s filing agent with the Secretary of State for campaign-related expenditures, work with donors and clients to ensure that PNC meets all external fiscal requirements related to our work.

Qualifications

Must-have qualifications:

  • 5+ years in development or fundraising, including major donor relationships, grant writing, and political fundraising

  • Experience and comfort bringing in prospective funders and donors

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Relationship-oriented

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Understanding of the Colorado political landscape and funding landscape

  • Working knowledge of Colorado compliance standards and C3/C4 distinctions 

  • Experience using Salesforce and Act Blue platforms

This is a full-time, salaried position. Salary range: Low $70,000 to High $85,000, based on experience and skills.
