Job Description
Location: Onsite at our care center located at 7900 Fannin St. Ste. 3300, Houston, TX 77054
Overview of the Role:
The Patient Services Representative greets, instructs and directs patients/visitors. Checks patients in/out efficiently and smoothly in a professional manner. Provides excellent customer service to both patients and office personnel.
Greet patients and visitors promptly with a professional and helpful demeanor.
Execute the patient check-in process by verifying and updating all demographic and insurance information at every visit.
Assist new patients with the completion of intake forms and ensure all digital and physical records are organized.
Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and outstanding patient balances; facilitate financial agreements as directed by the Patient Financial Services (PFS) team.
Maintain real-time communication with clinical staff regarding scheduling updates, including late arrivals or cancellations, to optimize patient flow.
Batch and balance all daily financial transactions and submit comprehensive activity reports at the end of each shift.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and internal privacy protocols to protect patient information.
Participate in ongoing educational activities and staff meetings to improve practice workflows.
Perform other administrative duties as required to support the Director of Practice Operations.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service orientation.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
High School Graduate or GED
Physical Demands
Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies; occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary; vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts; it is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which is very stressful.
