Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer works on a team of Data Engineers and Administrators building and modernizing our data platform. The current platform utilizes SQL Server Enterprise on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), as well as Snowflake and Python. This role is highly involved in the evolution of the platform to modern data warehousing technologies. The ideal candidate has experience with large data sets, hands on experience with cloud data warehousing, and a strong desire to continue learning and solving problems. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have domain experience with data-driven healthcare applications, including payer claims and attribution models.

Primary Job Duties:

  •  Responsible for end to end project ownership
  •  Design high performance, resilient, efficient data pipelines
  •  Become a subject matter expert in the data layer with deep understanding of entire pipeline
  •  Play a key role in data architecture and design discussions
  •  Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance
  • Follow established processes and be a champion for best practices and continuous improvement.
  •  Mentor junior developers and delegate work where appropriate
  •  Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  •  Deliver timely, well written, well designed, testable, efficient code
  •  Ensure designs and code are in compliance with specifications
  • Design solutions with a dev-ops mindset
  •  Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
  •  Working within Agile/JIRA framework
  •  Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience implementing commercial data warehouses and data marts
  •  2+ years of experience with cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred)
  •  1+ year of experience in Python
  •  Experience working with MySQL/ MSSQL
  •  Experience working with APIs
  •  Hands-on proficiency with SQL, SSIS, and ETL jobs, including stored procedures
  • A track record of shipping quality software
  •  A strong desire to learn new technologies
  •  A strong belief in automated testing
  •  Experience with Agile SDLC
  •  Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations
  •  Must be willing and able to communicate with the team via webcam, webconf, and phone.
  • Must have access to private, quiet work space with high-speed internet to effectively work remotely

The salary range for this role is $144,000.00 to $160,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, 401K, paid time off, and other wellness programs). This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 15% and restricted stock units. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
