You will play a key role in leading and developing the mechanical system design of our autonomous robotic platform.  You will have the opportunity to create a fresh design implementing your concepts from prototype to production.  You will work closely with fellow hardware and software developers on technical implementation and with product managers and senior leadership to understand customer requirements and implementation strategy. We are looking for a candidate that can work independently and also function well within a team, is flexible, self-motivated, curious and willing to revolutionize the world of autonomous robotics  

 

  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary design team to prototype, develop and bring to market innovative robotic systems focused on outstanding customer experience, reliability and cost 

  • Lead architectural and mechanical system design initiatives 

  • Design, evaluate and implement Mechanical Engineering processes, tools and standards to optimize work and ensure high quality 

  • Design, test, and validate integration of mechanical design elements with custom electronics and embedded systems for a holistic system design solution 

Job Requirements 

Required 

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or related technical field  

  • 5+ years of advanced graduate or professional hands-on experience desired in robotics or related fields 

  • Strong mechanical hardware and system design engineering experience 

  • Technical experience (any of the following): 

  • Expert Solidworks user 

  • Experience implementing DFM during architecture and prototyping stages 

  • Static and dynamic simulation analysis (e.g. FEA, CFD, etc.) 

  • Motor and gearing selection and analysis 

  • Experience with implementing design esthetics for positive customer response 

  • Motivation and desire for hands-on design, development, and testing 

  • Independently motivated to act on high-level requirements  

  • Strong English reading and writing skills to communicate with international team-members 

Preferred 

  • Experience developing robotic systems 

  • System-level understanding including mechanical, electrical, and firmware and their interdependencies regarding system performance, architecture tradeoffs, performance issues, and manufacturing 

  • Experience implementing revision management tools and design release process (e.g. PDMWorks)  

  • Experience using issue tracking tools and development process (e.g. JIRA, Agile process) 

  • Good spoken English to communicate with international team-members and customers
