Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW:
You will be a hands‑on software and data engineer supporting United States Air Force programs. The ideal candidate can write code daily, apply data analytics to complex datasets, and effectively communicate technical approaches with senior Air Force stakeholders. This role does not start as a people‑management position, but requires a strong technical background and DoD experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write, maintain, and deploy code supporting software and data tools
- Build data pipelines, transform data, and automate workflows
- Generate analytical insights from large, complex datasets
- Create dashboards or visualizations that inform decisions
- Maintain strict adherence to classification and data handling requirements
- Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Ensure documentation reflects classification and technical compliance
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Clearance & Security
- Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility (required prior to start)
Technical Skills
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software engineering and/or data engineering
- Practical experience with at least one high‑level programming language used in DoD environments (e.g., Python, Java, C#) with code samples or demonstrable work
- Strong data engineering and analytics experience (SQL, ETL, data pipelines)
- Experience with relational databases and querying large datasets
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python visualization libraries)
- Experience in CI/CD workflows (build/test/deploy automation)
- Familiarity with basic software engineering best practices (version control, unit testing)
Operational & DoD Context
- Experience working in DoD or cleared contractor environments
- Ability to communicate technical approaches and status to senior stakeholders
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (nice‑to‑have)
- Experience with classification guidance or classification compliance workflows (including Security Classification Guides)
- Experience with UNIX/Linux environments
- Experience in cloud platforms commonly used in DoD (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
- Experience with modern data tooling (Python libraries, Airflow, dbt, Spark)
- Background in cross‑functional technical problem solving with hybrid software + analytics focus
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
