Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Proposals Writer. This positions will work closely with program managers, business developers, and subject matter experts to develop and write proposal documents.  In addition, this position will provide writing support for other proposal related documents as required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review solicitation material (RFP, RFI, etc.) to understand proposal deliverables, structure of the response, conventions, bid particulars, etc.
  • Analyzes the Request for Proposal (RFP) and ensures the writing conforms to the compliance matrices for proposal evaluation.
  • Write proposal sections as assigned and ensuring compliance with all RFP requirements.
  • Research and gather information for use in proposal development activities.
  • Participates in storyboarding and content development meetings.
  • Develops win themes and incorporates strategies developed in review teams for final proposal drafts.
  • Interview program managers and other technical personnel to collect technical and methodology information and incorporate that information into writing winning technical approach sections of proposals. Incorporates information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to be included in the proposal.
  • Engages throughout the entire proposal lifecycle to create compelling proposal content.
  • Supports proposal production through preparation, editing and final binding of all proposals.
  • Learn/gain knowledge about company products/programs to assist in developing/leading past performance volumes and citations.
  • Develop proposal/volume outlines and utilize proposal production template tools.
  • Populate and maintain library/repository of standard proposal topics and write-ups.
  • Perform initial proofreading and editing.
  • Prepare and review proposal material for consistency of message and tone in the overall deliverable package.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience working in Federal Government proposal development and developing storyboards, mock-ups, proposal outlines.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication are critical.
  • Highly organized, team-oriented, enthusiastic, independent thinker, and collaborative.
  • Understanding of documentation processes and proposal development processes.
  • Knowledge of document management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Project, and Acrobat; and the ability to learn and proficiently operate critical chain software.
  • Strong teamwork, flexibility, organizational skills, and ability to apply critical thinking.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, detailed oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with good presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a diverse team, including multiple levels of management and peers

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Relevant experience related to Federal/DoD and/or Commercial bid and proposal development preferred.
  • Able to reason, plan, direct, conduct and evaluate situations to make appropriate recommendations and take actions beneficial to the program and the company as a whole.
  • Must display tact and self-discipline necessary to interface effectively with customers, all levels of management, employees and the general public.
  • Formal training in proposal writing and development is preferred.
  • APMP Foundation Certification or Shipley Proposal writing training is desirable.
