Job Description

The Linux Systems Administrator will support the full life-cycle application management within a suite of enterprise level applications that serve customers across the agency. Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Linux System Administrator experience, VMWare administrator experience and Solarwinds installation and administration experience. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to work independently and proactively on all basic Linux Administration tasks.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and implementation of systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required in support of organizational objectives.
  • Run Contiguous Monitoring & Risk Scoring (CMRS) compliance reports to maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Develop procedures for responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Direct the work of other Systems Administrators in the day-to-day operations to include system and resource optimization.
  • Provide daily support of all aspects of Solarwinds, including installation and configuration.
  • Reallocate resources as they become available, optimize system performance, and recommend additional components to improve overall performance.
  • Support the evaluation and recommendations for the selection of new system diagnostic tools.
  • Manage the installation of software and hardware fixes, updates and enhancements.
  • Control the current versions and future releases of application software and document the physical configuration of information systems.
  • Apply information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of system administration services.
  • Support the installation and configuration of COTS applications and software and hardware products.
  • Create and configure virtual Linux operating systems in Enterprise VMWare.
  • Resolve installation problems.
  • Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Maintain server integrity and availability.
  • Plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment in a server environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, or Associate degree and 7+ years of experience in Linux Systems Administration
  • Experience in Solarwinds, Logical Volume Manager and Networking Concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Security+ Certification is required
  • Relevant RedHat Linux Certifications are desirable, but not required.
  • Candidate must already possess a DoD Top Secret Clearance
