Job Description

We are looking for a Controller with 5-7 years of experience and a background in manufacturing.  Are you a team player with the ability to focus on accomplishing team goals?  Do you have a "can-do" attitude and a collaborative approach?  If this sounds like you then come join our team of dedicated, like-minded associates.

Essential Duties:

1)      Accounting Management:  Closing the monthly financial statements, which include preparing the bank reconciliations, importing and processing electronic transactions, reconciling credit card statements, valuing inventory, and accruing payroll and Paid-Time-Off.  Establish procedures for improving time taken to close financial statements, such as accruing open Purchase Orders.  Maintain the internal asset depreciation systems.

2)      Financial Analysis:  Determine part profitability of shipped parts as well as project profitability of work-in-process.  Establish consistent profitability reporting while communicating and working with other departments to improve profitability.

3)      Budgeting:  Coordinate the annual budget by working with the company’s directors.  Assist the President in transitioning elaborately projected part sales into monthly budgets.  Develop overhead rates based upon budget assumptions.

4)      Forecasting:  Assist in the forecasting of cash requirements.  Streamline current systems to avoid duplication in reporting.  Project the profitability of the sales backlog.  Project future overhead rates.

5)      Information Technology Automation:  Work with external programmers to develop automated financial systems that provide meaningful information to management.  Identify and limit non-value-added activities.  Suggest improvement to achieve greater efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge and skills:

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA and/or CMA a plus but not required.

Experience:  Financial accounting experience of at least 5-7 years is necessary.   Cost accounting exposure in a manufacturing environment is necessary.   The understanding of GAAP reporting is required.

Knowledge and Skills:  Understanding of and genuine interest in the operational aspects of manufacturing business.

▪ Able to dive into details and be hands-on for accounting, cost analysis, and cash/resource management to ensure that data is accurate and meaningful without losing sight of the bigger picture.

▪ Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
