Job Description
Let's be honest — this is a busy, physical role and it's hard work. You'll spend much of your shift on your feet, carrying out repetitive tasks and working at pace to keep up with a busy kitchen.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Washing and cleaning cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment
- Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and hygienic throughout your shift
- Working efficiently and keeping to required timeframes, particularly during busy service periods
- Ensuring bins are used correctly and supporting recycling and good waste management
- Following HACCP, Food Hygiene and Health & Safety procedures
- Assisting our chefs with essential food preparation when required, including peeling and chopping vegetables
- Supporting the wider kitchen team wherever needed
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and genuinely interested in working in a kitchen environment.
You might already have experience working in a professional kitchen and be looking for the next step, or you could be considering a career change and looking for an opportunity to learn and develop.
You'll need to be:
- Hardworking, reliable and willing to get stuck in
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment and being on your feet for most of your shift
- Able to work at pace and stay organised in a busy kitchen
- A team player who is happy to support colleagues
- Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Positive, enthusiastic and keen to learn
- Interested in developing your kitchen skills and progressing your career
Previous kitchen experience would be beneficial, particularly for candidates looking to progress within the kitchen brigade, although we're also interested in hearing from people with transferable skills and a genuine passion for pursuing a career in the kitchen.
Your Working Hours:
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, across 5 days out of 7.
You'll work a combination of:
7.30am – 4.00pm
2.00pm – 10.30pm
No split shifts!
The role will include working weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.
Pay:
£10.85 – £12.71 per hour, depending on age
Could This Be Your Next Move?
If you're ready for a change, looking to progress your kitchen career, or serious about getting into professional cooking, we'd love to hear from you.
You don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional route into the kitchen — we're looking for the right attitude, work ethic and desire to develop.
If you're ready to work hard, learn and see where a career in the kitchen could take you, apply today and take your next step with Potters Resorts Five Lakes.
