Job Description
The primary function of this role is to provide Personal Care Assistance - or Direct Support and related services to the individual in their home. These tasks include:
- Assisting with household chores ( cleaning, changing linens, trash disposal)
- Assisting with bathing and hygiene
- Assisting with toileting
- Assisting with transfers, walking, exercise, or ambulation, if needed
- Assisting with activities of daily living if needed ( personal grooming, and dressing)
- Assisting with grocery shopping
- Assisting with preparing meals and snacks
- Assistance with reminders and monitoring medication
- Assist with scheduling appointments
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- First Aid and CPR certification
- CNA/ PCT certification preferred
- Must be very familiar with and previously trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Must be very familiar and efficient with working with individuals with behaviors.
- Must be very familiar with American Sign Language (ASL) and have previously or currently practiced or utilized sign language to communicate with others.
- Must have at least three(3) years of RECENT experience in a health-related field, day program services, home health care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Must be able to provide references and contacts of previous employers.
- Must be able to lift and assist with transfers
- Above average communication skills: oral and written
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to transport individuals as needed
- Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
- Must be able to pay attention to detail and report adequately.
- Must be willing to write/type documentation
- Must be familiar with Therap documentation system
- Must be creative and willing to think outside the box
- Must have the ability to utilize effective decision-making
- Must be able to work cooperatively with individuals and their family
- Must be able to follow procedures and emergency protocols properly
- Must be willing to complete FBI- Background check, it will be required through the GA Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities if offered the position
- Must be willing to complete a TB test/ Physical
- Must possess a valid driver's license and insurance and be willing to provide a Motor Vehicle Report.
- Must be willing and able to follow ALL COVID-19 guidelines in accordance with recommendations from the CDC and the policies of GA DBHDD

MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO WORK ADDITIONAL HRS IF NEEDED
MUST BE ABLE TO FOLLOW PROCEDURES AND POLICIES OF THE AGENCY
