Job Description
This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.
Band 7 - £49,387 - £56,515 per annum (effective from 01/04/2026)
Full-time - 37.5 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract – until 31st December 2027
Hybrid working: 2 days working from home and 3 days on site either at Lakeside North Harbour or St Mary’s Hospital Isle of Wight.

IWT and PHU Trusts have started a journey to share PHU’s in-house developed EPR in readiness for a single EPR across the region. The Systems Integration Specialist will be a key player in the Trusts strategic goal to converge to a single EPR. This will involve working with Product Owners to support new feature requests to assist with feature parity with IWTs current EPR.
Specific Core Functions
- Design, build, test and deploy integration solutions in the trust’s integration engine, InterSystems Health Connect. Experience in designing and building in an integration engine is essential, with experience in InterSystems Health Connect desirable.
- Engage with product owners to understand requirements and convert into User Stories as part of the Agile process
- Stay current on new digital technologies, and new healthcare interoperability standards
- Maintain an understanding of Trust-wide applications as well as those applications with which they interface.
- Create/ use case specific implementation guides in accordance with HL7 standards including FHIR
- Maintain interfaces based on user requirement changes, and/or modifications to data formats, or protocols, of either the sending or receiving systems in both on-premise and cloud based architectures

Experience
Verifiable experience with programming and scripting required.
Experience in a health care systems environment is required.
Adequate relevant experience with standard health care formats (HL7, FHIR etc.) to enable the autonomy required in this role.
Demonstrable understanding of Interface Concepts (both end user and data)
Database Experience: Ability to Read and Write complex SQL code Database Experience: Preferred: Microsoft SQL Server.
Network Experience: Ability to investigate and diagnose connectivity issues using tools such as netstat, etc. Some knowledge of LANs, WANs, VPNs, and load balancing.
Demonstrable ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.
Knowledge
Must have proven applied knowledge in a combination of two or more of the following areas: XML, HL7, SOAP, REST, SQL, JSON, HL7/CCDA
Must have an extensive knowledge with Healthcare Interface Engines and the core principles, such as the importance of FIFO.
