Job Description

Band 6: £38,682 - £46,580 

Permanent contract

Full time: 37.5 hours

The Automation Developer will support the delivery of intelligent automation and digital process improvement across both Trusts.

You will develop, test, and maintain Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Power Platform applications, using your growing technical expertise to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance the Trusts’ digital capabilities.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to automation projects of varying complexity, ensuring that all solutions are robust, secure, and meet organisational and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy RPA solutions using Blue Prism, following established standards and best practice.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of Microsoft Power Platform applications, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Collaborate with senior developers, business analysts, and service leads to translate business requirements into effective automation solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance existing automations, ensuring reliability and ongoing value.
  • Produce technical documentation, reusable components, and accurate process records.
  • Support users and colleagues in understanding and adopting automated solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Governance, data protection, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvement, testing, and innovation activities within the automation team.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and skill-building across the wider digital team.

Qualifications

Qualifications Criteria

Essential 

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in automation development, ideally including Blue Prism.
  • Practical understanding of the RPA lifecycle and exception handling.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience integrating systems via APIs, web services, or databases (SQL).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.

Desirable

  • Blue Prism Developer certification (Foundation or Professional).
  • Experience working within the NHS or other large public-sector organisations.
  • Familiarity with Agile or iterative development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of other RPA tools (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere).
  • Awareness of cloud environments and virtual workforce management.
