Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographer

Band 2: £24,169

Full time 37.5 per week

Are you looking for a different approach to start your career in radiography? Are you keen to earn and learn? We have the perfect offer of our Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship which starts in early 2026 with the chance to begin working with us before the apprenticeship officially starts.

This 3 year apprenticeship programme prepares you for a career as a qualified Therapeutic Radiographer in the NHS by providing the knowledge and practical skills the profession demands. You will work as part of a close knit team under the supervision of registered therapeutic radiographers to deliver safe and effective radiotherapy treatments to adult cancer patients. Therapeutic radiographers are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and work closely with oncologists, physicists, technicians, nursing and administrative colleagues to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care.

The course will deliver against the nationally recognised Level 6 Therapeutic Radiographer Degree Apprenticeship standard. The apprenticeship includes a combination of work-based learning modules and specialist education, which leads to a BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography. Upon graduating you will be eligible to apply to register with the Health Care Professional Council.

Key Details:

  • The successful candidate will begin employment in a support role before the apprenticeship commences.
  • This pre-apprenticeship period will provide valuable experience and insight into the therapeutic radiography profession.
  • The full apprenticeship will commence in early 2026 leading to a qualification in therapeutic radiography.

Qualifications

Essential

To comply with the entry requirements specified by the HEI provider.

  • English & Maths GCSE Grade C (4) or above

Additionally one of the following:

  • 120 UCAS points from 3 A level science subjects. Science Subjects include Biology/Human Biology; Chemistry; Computing; Design and Technology; Electronics; Environmental Studies; Geography; Geology; Maths/Pure Maths/Further Maths; Life and Health Sciences; Physical Education; Physics; Psychology; Science (applied); Statistics OR
  • Equivalent from national BTEC qualifications e.g.: extended diploma in applied science, health science or health studies. Successful completion of an Access to HE Diploma in health studies, health science, nursing, or another science-based course. 
  • Previous degree in a related subject

Experience

  • Previous experience of an Oncology department or other NHS clinical role is desirable but not essential.
