A rare and exciting opportunity is available following recently awarded funding to expand endoscopy services at Queen Alexandra Hospital.  

The Portsmouth Endoscopy Unit is expanding, and we are currently looking to recruit a Senior Sister to lead our brand-new state of art Elective Endoscopy Centre.

Are you a current Endoscopy Manager looking for a new challenge or an experienced endoscopy nurse wanting to take the next step in your career? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking an individual who has the drive to be a key point of contact in supporting the setup of our new service and demonstrates our core trust values in their leadership.

You will manage a team of endoscopy nurses and have full operational oversight of the service day to day.

Job Summary

  • Lead and co-ordinate the nursing team, taking continuing responsibility on a 24 hours basis for 7 days a week.
  • Management and organisation of the Endoscopy Unit at D level and G level QAH and Gosport War Memorial Hospital.
  • Responsible for non-endoscopy gastrointestinal specialist procedures CNS
  • Through effective leadership ensure the clinical team delivers a safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led service where compassion is embedded and a positive patient experience is achieved.
  • Provide strong professional clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and act as a professional role model.
  • A highly skilled clinical expert within Endoscopy and have specialised knowledge of all procedures
  • To ensure all areas have safe staffing levels and feel valued
  • To lead training by monitoring core and specialised competencies
  • To actively be involved in clinical auditing to obtain and maintain JAG accreditation on both sites
  • Lead on the rolling MDMC asset programme and maintenance contracts for all equipment

Qualifications

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current RN +/- RN, registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications.
  • BSc Degree in relevant field  (Desirable -  Masters degree and evidence of working towards) 
  • Significant demonstrable experience within Endoscopy specialty with evidence of professional development.
  • Post Reg. qualifications for Endoscopy specialty.
  • Leadership development programme
  • Teaching qualification /experience and mentorship course
  • Evidence of team leadership  and change management with relevant management/leadership course
  • Managing recourses and contributing to departmental budget
  • Evidence of developing policy, guidelines and managing resources
