Job Description
The dedicated and enthusiastic paediatric team at Queen Alexandra Hospital is looking to appoint a locum consultant in General Paediatrics, to work in our busy children’s unit from February 2024. This is a replacement post and the successful applicant will work closely with other consultant colleagues and a team of specialist nurses and dieticians to deliver care for the children of Portsmouth. They will be part of the general paediatric team comprising eighteen paediatricians who provide acute and outpatient general paediatric services.
Successful applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in general paediatrics.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (proposed date must be within 6 months)
- CCT in Paediatrics or equivalent
- APLS or PALS Certification
- MRCPCH or Equivalent
- MB BS or equivalent
Clinical Experience
Essential
- 4 or more years at ST4+ (or equivalent) in paediatrics with appropriate community paediatrics and neonatal experience
- Evidence of training and expertise in diabetes
- Experience in Safeguarding
Desirable
- An appropriate higher Medical Degree
Ability
Essential
- Knowledge, Clinical and Technical skills to provide a Consultant Service in Acute General Paediatrics
Desirable
- Knowledge and skills which will enhance the spectrum of the specialist services provided in the Department
Management
Essential
- Training in and experience of management, commensurate with current position.
- Commitment to accept a share of management in the Department.
- Computer and IT Skills.
