Job Description
Applications are invited for a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in Lung Cancer.
This post is to support the existing Oncologists in the care of lung cancer patients and the use of SABR in Portsmouth, and the increasing advances in the systemic treatment and developing our research programme. Lung SABR is now an established practice, and oligometastatic disease commencing.
This is an exciting opportunity to work and join a highly motivated and well supported multi-disciplinary team.
Portsmouth Oncology Centre is based at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, a busy and thriving tertiary care hospital, providing a wide range of acute services with excellent research and academic opportunities. The Oncology Centre provides cancer services to the local population in addition to West Sussex (Chichester) and the Isle of Wight. We are a friendly and integrated Centre, embracing enhanced radiographer, nursing and pharmacy roles, encouraging research and innovation.
This post is for 10 PA's, which can be combined with a second tumour type, which can be discussed and reflect the candidates interests and availability. Candidates are encouraged to discuss their preferences, and those who wish to work less than 10 PA's are very welcome.
The area combines the advantages of city life with rural villages and seaside towns. Portsmouth is a thriving naval city, steeped in history, on the beautiful South Coast. It is ninety minutes from central London and has good transport links by ferry and airplane into Europe. Waters sports facilities are excellent with access to the Solent, and sandy beaches are within easy reach. Inland is the spectacular and relatively unspoilt countryside of rural Hampshire, and the South Downs National Park.

Qualifications
Essential
- Fully registered with GMC with a licence to practice
- Entry on the GMC Medical Oncology Specialist Register, CCT (or within 6 months at interview), or CESR or GMC recognised equivalent training

- MRCP or equivalent
- BSc
- MD or PhD
Clinical Experience

- Evidence of expertise in the areas of special interest relevant to the Job Plan

- Breadth of experience in and outside of speciality
- Evidence of clinical or research fellowship

- Able to demonstrate appropriate level of clinical knowledge
