Job Description

Portsmouth University Hospital Trust is recruiting Band 5 radiographers with a passion for x-ray. We welcome applications from student radiographers due to graduate in the summer of 2024, as well as qualified radiographers wishing to relocate to a new challenge.  Portsmouth Hospitals is a fantastic place to work with limitless learning opportunities and the added bonus of being based in a vibrant beach-side city!  London, Brighton and the South Downs are within easy reach, and Portsmouth itself is steeped in history and culture.

We have a structured preceptorship programme in place to support our Band 5 radiographers through their first year in post and beyond.  You will be supported by an experienced team and encouraged to develop to your potential over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • To conduct diagnostic radiography examinations across a range of general radiography, upon a range of patient types both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi professional team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements.
  • To independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic techniques according to the needs of the patient.
  • To use professional discretion and experience to ensure that clinical practice is carried out correctly, professionally and within the legal framework. 

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Hold a current state registration certificate

    Experience 

    Essential

     

    • Understanding of current Ionising Radiation Regulations
    • Evidence or plans for CPD

    Desirable 

    • Previous NHS experience in work undertaken prior to, or during undergraduate studies.

    • High levels of concentration required
    • Demonstrate co-ordination and sensory skills required for precise positioning of patients with narrow margin for error

    • Understanding of current Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017) and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations (2017)
