Edinburgh Dental Specialists is looking for a motivated and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our highly respected specialist practice in the heart of Edinburgh.

The Role

• Saturdays - 9:00am – 1:00pm to start with a view to increase days
• Established patient list from day one
• Fully private practice
• Modern clinical environment with advanced dental technology
• Full support from an experienced nursing and administrative team

You must be a GDC-registered Dental Hygienist with a passion for delivering high-quality preventative and periodontal care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of dental hygiene treatments, including scaling, polishing, and non-surgical periodontal therapy
• Assess patients’ oral health and identify signs of periodontal disease
• Provide preventative treatments and oral health advice
• Educate and motivate patients to maintain excellent oral hygiene
• Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment notes
• Adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols
• Work collaboratively with specialists, dentists, and the wider practice team
• Deliver an exceptional patient experience through clear communication and compassionate care
• Participate in continuing professional development and maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge

Essential Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Dental Hygiene
• Current General Dental Council (GDC) registration
• Valid DBS/PVG clearance
• Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and clinical abilities
• Commitment to delivering outstanding patient care
• Confident using digital clinical systems and technology

Desirable

• Experience managing periodontal patients
• Experience working within a specialist or referral environment
• Interest in patient education and preventative dentistry
• Familiarity with digital dentistry and modern clinical technologies
