Pluralsight is currently hiring an Author Evangelist specializing in cloud administration, engineering, operations, and architecture, to work full-time producing a powerful core of cloud content for our library. This position will include valuable opportunities to maintain your leadership in the field, through participation in conferences, symposia, and other engagements, and an opportunity to help educate the next generation of security professionals.
Who you're committed to being:
Develop educational content to be published on the Pluralsight platform
Speak and represent Pluralsight at industry conferences and events
Help promote Pluralsight at industry events, in blogging, and white papers targeting designated content areas
Work with the Pluralsight Marketing teams to help promote yourself, and Pluralsight, as experts and thought leaders
Recruit new authors for Pluralsight and introduce our Acquisition Editors to leading experts and trainers
Provide assistance in shaping the voice for our enterprise sales lead generation campaigns
Mentor and assist new authors with course creation, the transition to video presentation and brand development in the industry
Help identify industry trends in designated content areas
Produce slides (using Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, or compatible), using templates, to a provided set of standards and practices.
Set up and operate audiovisual equipment for narrating and editing screen capture- and slide-based presentations.
Use screen-recording and video-editing software to capture demonstrations and produce finished content to Pluralsight standards.
Demonstrate strong narration skills
Demonstrate strong writing skills
Be a capable and enthusiastic “lifelong learner,” capable of picking up new techniques, processes, and technologies through continuous and rigorous research and self-directed study.
Ideally, already be published (including books, articles, blogs, and so on), and/or have a presenter presence at industry conferences and events, and already have established, or have taken steps to establish, a personal “brand” for yourself and your expertise.
Experience you'll need:
5+ years of experience in applied cloud administration, operations, architecture, and engineering, across major cloud platforms including AWS and Microsoft Azure.
We note that cloud technologies have been in common use for only about 5 years; well-qualified candidates will also have a total of 10+ years’ experience in on-premises IT operations, including server support, virtualization operations, network engineering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and so on.
Familiarity with cloud development tasks and technologies on major cloud platforms
Deep knowledge of cloud automation interfaces and tools
Ability to design, create, secure, monitor, maintain, configure, and deliver services running on cloud infrastructure, including IaaS and PaaS offerings.
Strong familiarity with cloud-related on-premises technologies, including NoSQL, MySQL/MariaSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Windows Server, Linux, scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell, Configuration technologies like Chef and Puppet, and so on.
Job candidates will be required to prepare and submit a 10-minute Author Audition showcasing their teaching and communications skills. A Pluralsight Acquisitions Editor will work with selected candidates to help them understand, plan for, and prepare the Audition video.
Candidates are urged to review videos by some existing Pluralsight Author Evangelists, such as Greg Shields, Jason Helmick, Tim Warner, and Simon Allardice, to understand the level of professionalism, confidence, and expertise required of this job role.
The Author Evangelist role is expected to work remotely from a home office or other self-arranged location. Candidates should give careful thought to their ability to create a quiet and distraction-free work environment for themselves.
