Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Engineer to join our IT Services team, who will be responsible for our internal software applications. In this role, your duties will include resolving critical application incidents, working on software upgrade projects of existing applications as well as installing/commissioning new systems.

A perfect candidate should demonstrate broad experience in supporting commonly used applications in IT industry, and have a solid foundation in Windows OS and networking.

  • Managing various enterprise applications ensuring their high availability
  • Managing incidents, requests and changes as required 
  • Performing analyses on software application functionality and suggesting improvements
  • Supporting day-to-day Incident/Request management for internal systems
  • Ensures security and efficiency of IT applications
  • Upgrades systems with new releases
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of software applications
  • Establishing the root causes of application errors, and escalating serious concerns to the direct manager
  • Keeping a record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates
  • Providing front-end support to clients

Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft-based applications 
  • Experience with OpenSource web servers (ie. Apache/Nginx/etc) 
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with virtualization on-prem and Cloud (VMWare, Docker, etc)
  • Experience with AWS and Azure 
  • Experience with scripting - PowerShell
  • General experience supporting HTTP-based applications
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to keep up with innovation in application design
  • Experience in Project Management 

Additional Information

  • Bachelor's degree in SW, CS, IT, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Experience with MySQL/MariaDB databases 
  • Experience with Linux OS 
  • Experience supporting Atlassian products (Jira/Bitbucket/Bamboo/Confluence)
  • Good understanding of DNS, TCP/IP networking
