Job Description

Your Department

The Technical Services function is based in Manchester, supported by engineers and consultants in our international offices and provides the following functions on a global basis:

  • Delivery of the technical aspects of Neon installations and upgrades
  • Implementation of systems for exhibitions, customer evaluation and product certification
  • Technical projects for Neon customers (server/cloud migrations etc)
  • Technical supervision of system implementations and go lives
  • Monitoring and maintenance of production systems
  • Helpdesk and technical support

Your Responsibilities

You will report to the Technical Services Manager and your responsibilities will include:

  • Install and upgrade Neon in high-availability environments (cloud, VMware Fault Tolerance, SQL clustering, Service Fabric etc)
  • Plan, script and implement business critical Neon upgrades, minimising business impact
  • Supervise and support system implementations and go lives
  • Maintain internal development and QA environments
  • Produce high-quality system and implementation documentation
  • Provide second-line support for technical incidents and generally assist and advise the helpdesk team
  • Remain customer focused to ensure that we always deliver an outstanding level of service  

Qualifications

Your Experience and Skills

As we expand our Technical Services department, we are open to a variety of skillsets and candidate profiles to support our varied product range.  As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to meet most or all the following criteria:

  • Very good SQL and PowerShell skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016+, Windows Server 2016+, IIS and Windows 10
  • Excellent planning skills, including the ability to manage your own workload and communicate effectively with our team
  • Very good communication skills, including the ability to lead a team on site, communicate with our customers’ technical and senior management and deliver technical training and overviews to customer and internal audiences
  • Quick learner.  We would like to get you at the coal face as quickly as possible so you will need to be a self-starter and working with our training team, take responsibility for your own learning
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Service Fabric would be a distinct advantage

Our basic expectations within you to perform this role are that:

  • You are prepared to travel when required subject to proper planning and personal circumstances (estimate 60-75 days per year, maximum 14 days per trip)
  • You understand that we don’t work in a 9-5 environment due to our international client base
  • You will be excited to be part of a fast-moving company and the prospect of visiting interesting places and implementing high-tech, high-performance systems that drive genuine business value
