Job Description

This is a full-time (40+ hours) position working rotating shift.

Pixelle Specialty Solutions, Chillicothe Mill, is accepting applications for production positions (i.e., paper machines, shipping, roll wrap, coating, stock preparation, sheeters, woodyard, pulp mill). 90-day probationary pay is $18.40/hour.  Upon completion of probation and assignment to a department, pay rate increases to a minimum of $24.12/hour, plus shift differential. The mill is a 24/7 operation so candidates must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, nights, overtime, weekends and holidays.  Candidates need to be capable of moving to the most senior operations positions in the mill.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Respects and follows Pixelle Safety, Quality and Environmental policies as an individual, but also as an operations team member
  • Learns various bottom jobs within the department through on the job training and assisting current operators.
  • Bring raw materials to the machine, including: cores, skids, blocks and anything else to maintain the operations.
  • Move product around the Mill using hand trucks, clamp trucks, and overhead cranes.
  • Work in extremely hot areas and around high-speed moving equipment
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Considerable amount of walking, reaching, turning, and twisting
  • Assist other operators with making splices and threading winders.
  • Learn how to perform jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Monitors quality of product at every operation.
  • Assists with moving, weighing, taping and labeling product.
  • Using a computer system to assist with manufacturing process and ability to understand computer reports
  • Perform basic math and data entry
  • Performs cleanup duty for machine breaks or standard daily cleanups.
  • Can be involved with simple mechanical tasks including rope installation and lubrication duties.
  • Assists with Rewinding, Sheeting and Wrapping operations.
  • Cleans up lost paper/product generated by machines and recycles back into the process.
  • Does what is necessary to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D required

  • 1+ years related experience in production; manufacturing industry preferred
  • Problem solving skills
  • Mechanical ability
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
