Job Description

Plans, directs, and controls activities of the Operations Technologies Department to accomplish department goals and objectives. Areas of responsibility include the supervision, operations, support, and maintenance for the Operational Technology (OT) systems.

Essential Functions:

·        Supervises, plans, monitors and leads personnel engaged in the direct and related activities for the implementation,        operations, support and maintenance for the Operational Technology systems, such that the interconnected grid can be operated in a reliable, economic and safe manner and to ensure the delivery of safe and clean drinking water, chilled water and steam.

·        Works collaboratively with Operations Staff in the planning, scheduling and coordination of the operations, support, and maintenance for the OT systems.

·        Works collaboratively with Corporate IT in providing support for the OT systems, including the implementation of the cyber infrastructure protection program in order to assure its success across Operations Technologies.

·        Reports and advises management on issues, needs, and plans.

·        Participates in the asset management process for department operating and capital budgets.

·        Assist in the preparation and monitors monthly the budgets of department capital, operations and projects and reports variances to management.

·        Participates in ‘Operations’ Work Management process. Assists in the development and maintenance of employee skills, knowledge, and performance.

·        Interprets, implements, and coordinates major goals, programs, and activities toward the accomplishment of division and department objectives.

·        Assists in the establishment and review of department procedures for cost effective, reliable, and safe delivery system operation and development.

·        Ensure that organizational Asset Management and Work Management Department systems are implemented as assigned.

·        Participation in the continual improvement of asset management and work management processes.

·        Prepares and maintains reports reflecting department operations or writes special reports as required.

·        Provides emergency response and assistance on call as required.

·        Provides on-going feedback to staff and conducts annual performance appraisals.

·        Supports all company initiatives.

·        Required to follow Safety Manual and wear personal protective equipment as required.

·        Attend training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, corporate or governmental agency (i.e. NERC, MIOSHA, Reliability-First, etc.).

·        Predictable and reliable attendance.

·        Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

·        This position requires knowledge which is normally required through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·        This position requires a minimum of five years of previous network administration or network engineering experience.

·        This position requires a minimum of five to seven years of previous experience in utility operational technology (OT) systems, which includes SCADA systems, Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) (protection Relays and RTUs) associated with Transmission/Distribution/Generation facilities and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) associated with Generation, Water and Chiller Plants.

·        A minimum of two years of demonstrated leadership experience is also required.

·        Demonstrated project management and operations experience in the areas of operations,    support, and maintenance of OT system.

·        Experience in Cyber Security industry best practices and the NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards as it relates to OT systems, responsible utility experience is preferred.

·        Actively practices effective management and supervision skills in daily work tasks. Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize projects and direct technical/professional staff.

·        Demonstrated ability to work with customers, outside agencies & vendors.

·        The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in the following areas: business case development, leading change, leading people, building communication; results driven, internal controls/integrity, personal computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and any other required computer application, business acumen and safety consciousness.

·        To obtain knowledge of ISO 55000 asset management systems within 6 of months after awarded the position.

·        Must have excellent verbal / written communication skills.

·        Must have demonstrated management and project management skills.

·        Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable record.

·        Ability to be on call when required.
