Job Description
Instrumentation and Process Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing instrumentation and control schemes for process and automation capital improvement projects. The engineer works with lead project engineers, our engineering team and factory personnel to define project objectives and scope, develop budgets, P&ID’s, drawings, specifications and bid packages for the instrumentation and controls portion of projects, and then follow the projects through to successful completion. The engineer also works with factory personnel to support them in operations, maintenance and local non-capital project issues related to instrumentation and controls.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Evaluate project control system needs, develop project budgets, schedules and P&ID’s
· Develop control system wiring diagrams and PLC panel layouts for ordering / build
· Develop bid packages for instruments, PLCs, I/O, valves & gages, get quotes and order
· Develop installation bid packages, get quotes and order
· Develop control system programs & operator interface screens & tags and/or develop functional descriptions to contract similar services for projects
· Provide training & start up support to operators, supervisors and instrument techs
· Track order deliveries & installation progress, approve invoices & track project costs
· Archive equipment cut sheets, manuals and programs, and provide hard copy / online access to factory personnel
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 3 years’ experience
Strong AutoCAD experience drafting schematic wiring diagrams, panel layouts & P&ID’s
Experience selecting and specifying instrumentation & control valves for process control
Strong capabilities in designing & programming Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC ‘s & FT View HMI’s
Experience and knowledge in designing & configuring Ethernet networks.
