Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a hands on leader of manufacturing and operations. This Engineer will drive process improvement, have input into new product development, both from the chemical and manufacturing stand point, make decisions on capital expenditures, and lead teams in production. This Engineer will also act as an important liaison between business leaders, R&D and Manufacturing/Operations.

In a typical day, you may:

  • Advise on a new product idea- Design for manufacturability, chemical make up/reaction.
  • Implement a process improvement plan and train personnel on it
  • Troubleshoot Equipment
  • Research technology and advise leadership on improvements that could be made and how it would affect business goals.
  • · Ensures implementation and ongoing effectiveness of operating discipline, enabling technologies and roles. Manages and implements systems to reduce variation, produce quality products, reduce inventory, reduce costs of operations, and meet customer needs. Interfaces with customers and suppliers as required.

    · Create, review and approve plant engineering and equipment specifications, process and instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams, material balances, and other key documented process knowledge.

    · Primary Engineering/Procurement/Fabrication/Construction management responsibility for small projects

    · Manages capital projects up to $1M

Qualifications

· manufacturing/chemical process experience. Preference given to those with experience in lithium battery-related technologies.

· Experience with project management and technology improvement processes. PMP certification (or equivalent) a plus.

· Solid understanding of statistical process control and process improvement methodologies. Black Belt/Green Belt certification a plus.

· Familiarity with root cause trouble shooting activities

· Good understanding of manufacturing plant control systems and process control/automation (PLC).

· Software skills including MS Office professional package and Minitab. Ability to use SolidWorks or AutoCad a plus.

Key Competencies:

· Strong data gathering and analysis skills. Understanding practical use of statistical tools.

· Strong mechanical aptitude

· Understanding of chemical process equipment and its operation (valves, piping, pumps, instruments, mixers, etc)

· Proficient with chemical engineering calculations and their practical application

· Good process troubleshooting ability

· Basic understanding of applicable regulations (environmental, process safety, industrial hygiene)

· Basic understanding of lab analytical equipment and test methods
