Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for new process development for lithium-ion cell and pack manufacturing processes. The hands-on individual will possess a good working knowledge of manufacturing processes used in the fabrication of Li-ion cell cells and packs. Candidate will be capable of working cross functionally with professionals and technicians from internal departments and external customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer has responsibility and accountability for process development and day-to-day support of manufacturing operations:
· Leading development of new cell and pack manufacturing at the pilot scale and production level.
· Utilizing installed process equipment to support process development.
· Sharing expertise across multiple functions and teams to leverage current knowledge into future product and process development.
· Transitioning technology improvements in cell and pack manufacturing equipment from design to full scale production.
· Developing standard operating procedures and safety procedures for pilot process capabilities.
· Developing and maintaining engineering equipment drawings.
· Safely performing operational adjustments, transfer of materials, process troubleshooting.
· Coordinating and executing equipment maintenance per manufacturer’s guidelines.
· Inspecting and adjusting process control equipment.
· Interfacing with computer systems to enter and retrieve data and analyze basic operational information
· Keep current with the latest assembly/manufacturing developments in the industry.
Qualifications
· BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 7 years related experience required and 12 yrs. preferred
* Battery Cell and Pack Manufacturing Experience*
*Manufacturing Process Development Experience*
· Strong knowledge of various assembly processes.
· Effectively communicate with peers and leaders.
· Evaluates existing work processes and initiates effective changes to promote continuous improvement.
*Some knowledge of Battery design and chemistry is a plus.
· Committed to environmental, health and safety requirements
· Strong work ethic, highly accountable, and able to take ownership of operating equipment.
· Able to work in a production environment and lift 50 lbs.
· Takes initiative and is able to work with little or no supervision.
· Able to work in a clean room & low humidity environment.
