Job Description
This role leads and advances the enterprise compliance program, strengthening the organization’s culture of compliance and ensuring alignment across regulatory requirements, business operations, and risk management. The Director provides strategic oversight for compliance program design, regulatory operations, data and monitoring, training, communications, and third‑party risk. The role ensures an integrated, scalable, and proactive compliance framework that supports effective risk identification, mitigation, and reporting.
Essential Functions
- Lead enterprise compliance strategy and ensure alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the compliance program framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and maturity development.
- Direct enterprise‑wide compliance risk assessments and integrate compliance into business processes and decision‑making.
- Provide oversight of compliance operations, including intake, investigations, issue management, and remediation.
- Serve as escalation point for complex compliance matters, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
- Partner with Legal, Audit, ERM, and business leaders to ensure effective control design and execution.
- Oversee compliance monitoring and reporting, including KPIs, dashboards, and data integrity across systems.
- Drive data‑driven insights to identify trends, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Provide reporting to senior leadership and the Board on compliance performance and risk posture.
- Champion a culture of ethics and compliance through training, communication, and awareness initiatives.
- Oversee third‑party risk management, including due diligence, screening, and ongoing governance.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing compliance team with clear expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Model organizational values and ensure strong support for team members and stakeholders.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or related field) preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, risk management, or related field
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling enterprise compliance programs (not just operating within one)
- Experience in retail convenience, energy, or similarly regulated industries strongly preferred
- This position requires candidates to be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Specialized Knowledge
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance program design
- Strong knowledge of compliance operations, investigations, and regulatory response processes
- Experience with compliance monitoring, data analytics, and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business controls
- Experience with third-party risk management and due diligence processes

Travel
