Job Description

Are you a proactive and detail-oriented computer science student with a passion for ensuring system reliability? Pilot Company is seeking a Service Desk Intern to join our Level 1.5 team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2026. This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to our operational excellence by performing reliability checks on key system components at our store locations. 

In this role, you will be an integral part of the Service Desk team. Your work will involve performing essential tasks like checking server uptime, connectivity, and battery backup cabling, as well as quality checking system health. The expected outcome of your work is more reliable store-level systems, which will improve the uptime and overall operational excellence of our network. 

What You’ll Do 

Your responsibilities may include: 

  • Perform Reliability Checks: Conduct reliability checks on key system components at store locations, including proper battery backup cabling to the server, server connectivity, and server uptime. 
  • Monitor System Health: Quality check system health by monitoring drive utilization. 
  • Enhance Operational Excellence: Your contributions will directly improve the reliability of our store-level systems, driving operational excellence for the company. 

Qualifications

  • Education: A student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with command line interfaces and Linux is essential. The ability to navigate system health reports and an understanding of the concept of virtualization are also required. 
  • Soft Skills: A high level of attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also performing duties independently.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, in-person internship, running from June 1-August 6, 2026. You’ll be working alongside our team in our Cross Park office in Knoxville, where you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and experience the full scope of life at Pilot Company.
