Job Description
Title: Production Planner
Reports to: President
Job Purpose: Responsible for establishing and maintaining operations planning process that balance the requirements of customer demand, plant capacity, and inventory alignment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop and document resource planning, production planning, and scheduling best practices within Epicor to positively impact the business.
- Develop advanced-level understanding of plant operations routing/cycle times and maintain a current situational awareness of operational status.
- Update and evaluate capacity and demand models across the organization in order to effectively schedule, delegate, and transfer new work.
- Support all Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) initiatives and processes while managing the operations planning aspects.
- Monitor production schedules and production jobs between departments and plants to ensure they are aligned with customer demand and plant inventory goals.
- Analyze material lead times, inventory levels and sales ordering patterns to evaluate minimum safety stock quantities to support OTD.
- Periodically evaluate staffing levels with plant managers to ensure human resources are adequate and properly positioned to support current and future production requirements.
- Utilize Epicor to compile information for various tracking and reporting.
- Utilize all forms of data to systematically identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.
- Work closely with other department managers and supervisors to proactively communicate and resolve production issues and support continuous process improvement efforts.
- Support new product development by understanding engineering tollgate timeline and scheduling PPC and R&D manufacturing orders to support customer need dates.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of contemporary operational theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to all operational personnel as well as functional managers and executives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Operate within Company Parameters:
- Communicate and work closely with other functional managers and executives to support execution to relevant business metrics and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure operational activities and management of equipment and materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship.
- Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
- Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work in a relevant field
- Experience in a professional planning/scheduling role
- Experience with Epicor or related ERP systems
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Support of multi-site operations preferred
- Experience with SIOP processes preferred
- APICS CPIM Certification is a plus
- Background in metal stamping and metal fabrication manufacturing is a plus
- Knowledge of principles and practices of lean manufacturing
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Exceptional communication skills and decision-making ability
