Job Description

Title:  Project Manager

Reports to:  President

Job Purpose:  Responsible for organizing senior engineering team and subcontractors to design and develop aircraft corrosion repair solutions for both commercial and defense customers in support of the Company’s goals and objectives. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Manage government research and development contracts:

  • Manage multi-year, multi-million dollar overlapping contracts with various government agencies.
  • Identify and source qualified subcontractors to deliver milestones on-time and under budget.
  • Manage budgets in conformance with appropriate legal and regulatory requirements and consistent with company financial objectives. Receive and approve payment requests from subcontractors and for equipment and materials according to contractual obligations and performance.
  • Utilize a combination of technical and project management skills to help direct investment and procurement of capacity and capability as well as manage process improvement.
  • Liaise with the research development quality and testing teams, including subcontractors as appropriate, to ensure conformance to contract requirements, as well as documenting Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions as part of Quality System documentation.
  • Work with President to write new Statements of Work, Request for Proposals, Subcontractor Statements of Work and Pro Forma budgets for upcoming contracts.
  • Schedule the commercial product development to coincide with research and development activities to optimize and balance the two to achieve commercial revenue and profitability targets, while continuing to achieve contractual research and development milestones.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Operate within Company Parameters:

  • Communicate and liaise with other functional managers and executives so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs or operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of process challenges and process improvements and changes.
  • Ensure operational activities and management of equipment and materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
  • Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures

  • Project On-Time, On-Budget Delivery of Milestones
  • Achievement of Project Objectives
  • On Time Delivery to Market for New Solutions

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or defense contracting preferred
  • Experience managing DoD contracts preferable, or equivalent milestone-based project management required
  • Experience with purchasing and accounts payable systems preferred, experience with DoD procurement and Epicor ERP desirable
  • Basic understanding of airframe design, analysis, M&P, testing, repair desirable
  • Basic understanding or experience with fastening systems desirable
  • Experience in commercial or military airframe technologies including life extension technology desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through team building and process change
  • Good communication and leadership skills required
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Self-directed/organized, strong work ethic, positive attitude, works well in teams, results focused and accountable for actions required
