Scholar Enrollment and Talent Specialist Vision

The Scholar Enrollment and Talent Specialist at Pharos Academy Charter School is responsible for the planning and execution of the full scholar life cycle as it pertains to enrollment.  This includes but is not limited to recruitment, the lottery, registration, enrollment, and attendance reporting functions.  A successful Scholar Enrollment and Talent Specialist will maximize per pupil funding, as well as opportunities for deserving scholars to be enrolled at Pharos, by maintaining 100% scholar enrollment (696 scholars) at all points of the school year.  Furthermore, the role will focus on talent as a whole by providing critical support to the school’s Director of Talent Acquisition by assisting in efforts directly related to sourcing, interviewing, and hiring key talent for the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and present a year-long strategic plan that accurately describes all actions for the scholar life cycle
  • Create and present marketing plan in line with the school’s budget 
  • Manage all vendors related to these marketing efforts
  • Build and maintain the school’s lottery wait list by planning for, attending, and hosting a minimum of five internal and five external events to promote Pharos Academy Charter School
  • Recruit and enroll additional scholars throughout the school year when withdrawals should occur
  • Design and maintain inventory of Pharos-branded swag to distribute at scholar recruitment events
  • Complete all pre-lottery administrative duties such as verifying applications.
  • Plan for and conduct a mock lottery
  • Conduct a public lottery in mid-April of each year
  • Carry out post-lottery duties such as sending out notices to families and managing consistent engagement with interested families
  • Host in-person registration meetings with incoming families and their scholars
  • Provide weekly updates regarding the scholar enrollment progress to school leaders
  • Create physical scholar files, ensuring all files are in full compliance to be audited on an annual basis
  • Enroll scholar applications in student information systems (ATS and PowerSchool)

Additional Duties

  • Scholar Attendance Tracking: Provide daily, quarterly, an annual reporting as it relates to scholar attendance to the school’s Executive Director/Principal and other key leaders
  • Staff Recruitment: Support the Director of Talent Acquisition by carrying out essential tasks related to talent, including but not limited to, reviewing resumes, scheduling and conducting phone screens, scheduling follow up events, utilizing the school’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to record activities, etc.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred
  • Background in data analytics, with ability to gather and interpret school related data in order to identify key insights related to the role & problem solve
  • Previous experience with NYC DOE’s ATS, a Student Information System (SIS) such as PowerSchool is preferred but not required; candidates will be trained and must ultimately demonstrate proficiency in both
  • Ability to work nights & weekends (as requested)
  • Proficiency in Spanish required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • A passion for urban education and strong conviction that all scholars deserve an excellent education
  • Strong background in marketing/recruitment (including but not limited to sales, social media, collateral design, etc.)
  • Highly skilled in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and related Google products (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • The ability to speak confidently and intelligently to key stakeholders (school leaders, potential families, external vendors) about Pharos Academy Charter School

Hybrid Work Schedule
This role will be hybrid in nature.  A typical year-long schedule may look like:

  • September – April:  3-4 days per week remote/1-2 days in person.  Occasional work in the field, including evening and weekend events. 
  • April – September: 5 days per week in person

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $75,000
  • 401k plan with employer matching of 4 percent
