Position Description

The Facilities Technician is responsible for all the repairs and maintenance of all Pharos Academies facilities.  The Facilities Technician may also act as the contact for emergency situations that affects the school facilities.

Additionally, the Facilities Technician will assess and consider daily:

  1. the safety of our scholars and staff,
  2. the security of our assets,
  3. the service to our community.

Daily Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact in regards to all of the buildings concerns (cleanliness, odor, smoke, spills, damage, repairs, maintenances and emergencies).
  • Execute projects coordinated, directed and supervised by the Facility Manager, including large scale repairs and new facility construction projects
  • Assists directly with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies, and if necessary, on a 24-hour basis
  • Learn the Facility Management software application, HIPPO, diligently and update it daily
  • Communicates effectively & works well in team setting, as well as independently
  • Reports to the Facility Manager while assisting the FM in making sure the entire facility is well kept and maintained

Additional Required Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean facility
  • Able to execute minor plumbing repairs, as needed
  • Basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required
  • Minor restorations, including plastering walls and painting
  • Track inventory of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE)
  • Hang pictures, signs, shelves and other related work, as needed
  • Dismantle and install furniture whenever necessary
  • Transport goods or equipment as assigned by the Facility Manager
  • Monitor and replace light bulbs in all assigned facilities, as needed
  • Other maintenance repairs and duties as assigned by the Facility Manager

Physical Requirements

  • Able to push/lift up to 50lbs
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
  • Ability to climb ladders

Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Basic understanding of plumbing & electrical work
  • Experience with building restorations, including plastering walls & painting
  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a school/academic institution is highly preferred

Hours & Compensation

  • Salary Range: $15-$20/hour
  • Shift Days/Hours: Nights & Weekends
