Job Description

The Assistant Operations Manager will be a strong people leader with production experience across multiple operations departments.   The Assistant Manager will implement and support all aspects of PharmaCann’s operations site they are assigned to. This position will also partner with other departments both at the location and corporate departments and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to.   Under the direction of the Operations Manager ensure issues are identified and resolved quickly and following SOPs, best practices, and are legally compliant.  This position reports to the Operations Manager, however will be responsible for the site when the Operations Manager is not available.    This position will be an off hour shift and must be a highly responsible and trustworthy individual.

Duties and responsibilities or (Essential Functions)

  • Assist and manage operations site and employees under the direction of the Operations Manager.  

  • Responsible for oversight of operations when Operations Manager is not available. 

  • Oversee and manage output of 2nd shift under site direction of the Operations Manager. (if applicable)

  • Provide leadership and direction to department leaders and staff. 

  • Ensure PharmaCann products are produced in a safe environment for our employees while adhering to all SOPs and governmental regulations for this industry.

  • Implement and ensure proper product and work-in-process tracking, movement, product security and compliance with FDA cGMP’s, OSHA regulations, and applicable laboratory procedures are adhered to.

  • Work closely with Director of Cultivation to implement best practices, drive continuous improvement and ensure SOPs are followed in daily production processes

  • Recommend site improvements, gain approval by Operations Manager and necessary executives,  and implement plans. 

  • Support and drive effective efficiency improvement initiatives in processing, packaging, and warehousing.

  • Interact and partner  with PharmaCann’s dispensaries and the wholesale sales team to manage product supply, the operations, and our supply chain to ensure timely delivery of PharmaCann products. 

  • Implement and drive lean operations, quality improvement, and capacity expansion initiatives in the processing, warehousing, and packaging portions of the operations.

  • Work closely with Facilities to implement facility modifications and upgrades required for efficient production capacity

  • Assist in the management and streamlining of all aspects of the supply chain and each process step carried out in PharmaCann’s operations.

  • Identify, lead, and develop talent to maximize individual, team, and organizational effectiveness to meet company goals.

  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven manufacturing management and leadership experience preferably within the pharmaceutical, food, or beverage industries. Cannabis industry experience is a plus.

  • A minimum of 3 years managing and developing employees.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing-related discipline: Engineering, Sciences or Operations strongly preferred.

  • Proven skills in developing teams, problem resolution skills for direct and indirect reports.   

  • Demonstrated success in leading manufacturing operations to achieve improved performance and profitability.

  • Possess the financial acumen to manage, measure, and improve operations effectiveness and profitability.

  • Demonstrated practical knowledge in continuous improvement and with leading Lean Six Sigma and other manufacturing improvement initiatives highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge on managing and improving food safety, employee safety, quality, and packaging for consumers.

  • Strong communication skills to every level of the organization

  • Ability to develop structure while operating in a continued startup and emerging environment.

Working conditions

  • Will be required to work all shifts and / or weekends as needed. 

Physical requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, hear, use the computer, stand and sit for long periods of time.
