Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial leader with a high will to win, and energy and drive to lead strategy and operations for our fast-growing physical footprint. The VP, Real Estate & Construction Strategy will help us continue our rapid growth in one of the fastest growing industries in the nation. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something really great while building and executing on the market demand that will further fuel our growth.

This role will develop and implement strategy for all things related to our physical presence, including real estate, construction, safety, security and facility management. We’re looking for a strong leader, and outstanding business thinker with a demonstrated record of leading real estate and physical presence strategy, understanding the relationships, controls, process, costs, etc required to lead and manage a fast-growing business in a dynamic high growth industry. It is essential that this leader has a strategic mindset, and must be fully engaged in enhancing the development of our presence, building a strong team, and operationalizing strategy across the function. 

The VP Real Estate, Construction & Facility Strategy will work collaboratively with leadership to ensure the company’s real estate function continually creates a competitive edge for the Company in the industry. The associated responsibilities include: site planning and selection through negotiation and capture, and through a disciplined, inclusive process, consistently places us in the best location with the best economics. This requires savviness to acquire prime locations in all our markets, developing relationships with government officials and working with local municipalities, as well as the ability to manage construction, and the construction cost structure, including managing cost per square foot. 

In overseeing the entirety of our physical presence, this leader will also be responsible for the development and implementation of best practices for our firm’s facilities, safety, and security operations across the firm. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of system-wide policies, programs and initiatives that advance our competitive edge and maintain compliance with legal, regulatory and reporting requirements to ensure we are protecting our customers, employees and products.

 

Qualifications

•    Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field required, MBA preferred.
•    Minimum of 15 years’ experience, with 10+ in real estate and construction management experience; Negotiation experience in commercial/industrial management. Retail experience strongly preferred.
•    Demonstrated success in creating a competitive edge through real estate acquisition and construction management, and experience developing a real estate strategy plan consistent with overall Company’s strategic objectives. 
•    Experience with financial analysis, lease negotiations and contract management. Strong understanding of construction projects from acquisition through completion. Experience managing across multiple states and cities required.
•    Experience developing and maintaining relationships with developers, landlords, regulators and vendors. 
•    Experienced in building and leading a high-performance team.
•    Must be a problem solver, decisive and results oriented leader with a high sense of urgency.
•    Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
•    Ability to recognize growth and improvement opportunities for the business.
•    Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team. Demonstrated problem solving ability and adaptability to be successful in a fast-paced, results oriented, changing environment.

•    Frequent travel is required.
