Founded in 2012, Incuvo is a studio of over 80 individuals working from Poland, Katowice. We have established our position worldwide in the VR games area, developing such titles like Layers of Fear VR, Blair Witch VR and Green Hell VR. With over 10 years of experience in making games and being engaged in the VR technology since 2019, Incuvo is aiming to expand the genre even further and become one of the key developers of the growing VR market worldwide. We want to combine our expertise with the creativity and skills of ambitious professionals to work on the new generation of VR titles. Our team is currently working on Bulletstorm VR - an exciting VR version of the game from People Can Fly studio’s portfolio and on further expansion of Green Hell VR.
The majority stakeholder of the studio is PCF Group S.A. (People Can Fly), a global independent AAA games developer and a Warsaw Stock Exchange public company. Founded in 2002, People Can Fly made its mark on the action-shooter genre, developing titles such as Painkiller, Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment, and its most recent game, Outriders. PCF is one of the leading Unreal Engine studios in the industry and operates in Poland, UK, US and Canada.
Job Description
Main duties:
- To support creation and development of Game Mechanics and narratives to ensure that the Creative Director’s vision is reflected as playable and fun experience and the creation of engaging and memorable gaming experiences that captivate our audience
- Ownership of the produced function or part of the game - from conceptual and paper design, through the prototyping phase, scripting, iteration, debugging, optimization - until delivery of the game.
- Collaborate with the design team to brainstorm and develop game concepts.
- Collaborate with artists and programmers to ensure seamless integration of game elements
- Working with producer to determine tasks and schedules and collaborating on game design
- Documentation
- Imagining, envisioning and devising new approaches, concepts, models, designs and processes that can support the fun experience with the game.
- Gather and analyze player data and feedback, and use that information to suggest improvements to the game mechanics and systems.
- Balance gameplay systems to provide a rewarding and engaging experience for players
- Attend playtests and be solution-oriented to the problem encountered
- Create clear and easy-to-follow documents, including initial feature briefs and final design
- documentation for all aspects of the game design
- Remain current on industry trends, including new game genres, new game design methods and Technique
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Gameplay Designer (at least 2 years) or in the similar position
- Good presentation skills
- Solid theoretical knowledge of game design practices
- An in depth understanding of major elements of game design
- Demonstrable success in creating compelling and fun game play, scenarios and encounters.
- Experience in designing multiplayer and/or single player gameplay
- Excellent creativity to generate innovative concepts, mechanics and ideas
- Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
- Self-motivation
- Knowledge of RPG and shooter genre games.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in the studio in Katowice, or at least in a hybrid form
Nice to have:
- Experience working (rapid prototyping) with Unity Engine
- Has a deep understanding of how to create great moment to moment mechanics
- Detail oriented
- Unreal 4 or 5 Unity experience
- Scripting experience
