People Can Fly is one of the leading and most experienced Unreal Engine studios in the world. We took off in 2002 and since then, we have never slowed down. We made our mark on the action-shooter genre, developing titles such as Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Gears of War: Judgement. Job Description

  • Defining game balance and creating game balancing systems
  • Building simulations and spreadsheets to evaluate their effectiveness/impact
  • Defining the metrics which allow balancing and tuning game
  • Constantly testing theories, iterating on ideas, and challenging assumptions
  • Creating designs documents, content briefs, system outlines, and other means of sharing all the necessary information with involved teams
  • Collaborating with multiple disciplines, ensuring the correct partners are involved and informed throughout the development process
  • Remaining current on industry trends, including new game genres, new game design methods and techniques, and trending audio-visual excellence
  • Conducting playtest sessions for involved developers (level designers, artists, animators, and programmers) to discuss and improve implemented prototypes.
  • Sharing knowledge with less experienced peers
  • Occasionally supporting Lead in recruitment projects with HR collaboration

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience working on AAA TPP / shooters /cover shooters titles in economy/balance or systems design roles
  • At least one shipped AAA title from start to finish with credits as a game design role
  • History of successfully implemented outstanding features
  • Good presentation skills
  • Unreal Engine Editor working proficiency
  • Experience working with a variety of established game toolsets
  • Strong analytical and formal thinking, able to break problems down into their key variables and identify the relations between them;
  • Excellent understanding of mathematical modeling in game design and what the numbers mean in practice
  • Statistic knowledge, able to formulate ratios and indexes specific to each game, identifying specific weaknesses and strengths in its design;
  • Strong econometrics skills, able to model problems into quantitative systems, and draw qualitative conclusions out of quantitative data;
  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize, pitch, and implement game systems and features using various tools, technology, and visual language
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and align design vision with internal partners and the target audience
  • Deep understanding of systems design, player psychology, and emerging industry trends
  • Great understanding of creative and game development processes
  • Familiarity with any scripting languages
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Open-minded team player attitude
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
  • Passionate about playing and making video games
  • Knowledge and passion for RPG genre games
