Job Description

As a key contributor on the senior leadership team, share the responsibility for strategically guiding the overall performance of PenFinancial.  Act as a key advisor to the CEO and senior team.  Provide strategic leadership, create and oversee the retail operations strategy including delivery, wealth and credit department leadership. Contribute to establishment and direction of strategic priorities for the credit union while being responsible for retail and credit strategies to support the achievement of established measurements.  

As a key contributor on the senior leadership team, share the responsibility for strategically guiding the overall performance of PenFinancial.  Act as a key advisor to the CEO and senior team. 

Responsible for retail strategic direction and achieving sales, operational and financial goals for the delivery network, Wealth and Credit Departments.   Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all divisions of activities to achieve or exceed established goals, operational efficiencies, FTE, establishment of processes and corporate objectives, implementing best practices, maintaining excellent member and vendor relationships, internal team building, margin and revenue growth, risk management, internal and external audit and regulatory functions, deliver quality projects and campaigns timely with highest level of member satisfaction.

Collaborate with functional leaders to guide retail product development (including pricing and features), processes, conduct business intelligence, and implement to provide profitable and competitive service offerings in accordance with overall business objectives.

Create, formulate and recommend branch models that support the strategic direction of the credit union.  Implement necessary changes to the organization to facilitate its growth, development and overall corporate strategy.

Proactively coach to support the personal growth and development of direct reports and related teams and implementation of related training to support the achievement of goals and ensure efficiency and simplicity of processes; conduct meaningful performance discussions to enable self-awareness and reflection with documentation of regular coaching and performance discussions. Develop a highly engaged, diverse and capable team to execute departmental plans/strategies and build strong relationships with others/members.

Support performance management processes and participate in the recruitment process. Apply management and communication practices that encourage change management, talent attraction and retention, skills development, employee engagement and diversity and that are consistent with PenFinancial’s values.

Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all retail operations (delivery, wealth and credit) including but not limited to technical expertise, security issues, regulatory and compliance related matters. 

Lead credit risk management, compliance, collection, recovery and internal control activities for all areas of responsibility.  

Responsible for satisfactory outcome of audits and reviews by compliance, internal audit, DICO and other internal and regulatory bodies.

Thorough knowledge of the Collective Agreement for unionized employees; May act as a member of the negotiating team during collective bargaining.

Ensure timely and positive resolution of escalated member service issues.

Contribute to the strategic planning process for the credit union and execution of the strategic plan.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business administration, finance or related field required; advanced degree in banking or related field or Masters in Business Administration or related field is preferred.

CFP/PFP required.

Minimum of ten (10) years job related experience in a leadership role at a credit union or financial institution, including 8 years managing financial products and services sales

Strong financial and business acumen with proven success in collaboratively developing and overseeing the execution of corporate strategy.

Thorough understanding of retail banking loan underwriting and deposit products and operations.

A track record of success in driving business growth objectives and increasing the top-line.

Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills with the ability to build enthusiastic consensus.

Innovative and forward thinking with the ability to proactively position the company to excel in a changing marketplace.

Proven ability to create a culture consistent with the vision of the company.

Strong critical thinking, judgment and experience to define, analyze and resolve problems and issues.

Superior communication skills, both verbally and in written correspondence.

Valid Ontario driver’s license and available reliable vehicle; ability to travel to all PenFinancial locations on a regular basis.
