Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Assistant Branch Manager to join our expanding team of Financial industry professionals!

 

 

 

 

 

Job Function:

As part of the Branch Leadership team and reporting to the Branch Manager, this position in conjunction with the Branch Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operation for service and sales within the branch, business development and is responsible for the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager. Provide leadership, direction and development to all employees modelling Our Commitment and PenFinancial values. Provide effective leadership by empowering performance, giving constructive one on one coaching, and building a team atmosphere through positive interactions. Improve the member experience while ensuring a high standard of employee performance results, community involvement, sales and service quality.
 

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for business development in conjunction with the Branch Manager and for the attainment of all branch sales objectives, and for the supervision of the sales function to ensure a high quality of member sales and service is provided. The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for prudent and sound business practices to protect the assets of the Credit Union and ensure profitable growth. Assistant Branch Manager acts as a positive role model for all employees.
  • Under the direction of the Branch Manager, manage overall branch operations including both deposit and loan portfolios and funds under administration; direct the utilization of staff, equipment and facilities to ensure member satisfaction and services offered are maintained at a high level and to promote adherence to established policies and procedures; maintain proper security procedures.
  • Initiate action to improve growth and development of the branch loan and deposit portfolios, cross sell all credit union products and services, and pursue new business by establishing and maintaining liaison with business community contacts; set short and long term branch goals and objectives; controls expenses through the application of internal checks and balances, develop yearly capital and operating budget and makes budget presentations to executive management; develop and execute initiatives set out in the strategic plan.
  • Manage directly and indirectly all branch staff; interview and approve the hiring of new staff; implement training and development programs; identify opportunities for staff growth and promote motivation, enthusiasm, service excellence, product knowledge and professionalism; coach staff in sales techniques and cross selling of credit union products and services; develop, coach and mentor staff by providing leadership and expertise; if necessary initiate discipline; assist in conducting staff meetings and monitor all branch activities to ensure awareness of operational problems and successes.
  • Market services and products by implementing plans to increase member awareness and branch profitability; ensures staff are kept up to date and well informed on products and services and in all aspects of cross selling, relationship building, sales and service standards.
  • Active in member relations including full processing of loan and deposit services and addressing member inquiries.
  • Administer a quality mortgage and loan portfolio meeting all regulatory and risk management requirements. Approve loans and mortgages within discretionary limits and/or make recommendations for approvals/declines to Manager.
  • Responsible for pricing of loans and deposit business.
  • Sound working knowledge of Collective Agreement and application of and adherence of same.
  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager, responsible for hiring, training, developmental plans, performance management, coaching, feedback and performance improvement plans.
  • Participate as a member of the branch leadership team, supporting and promoting branch initiatives.
  • Lead all team members with respect to member satisfaction, ensuring a positive and consistent member experience.
  • Effectively engage employees in the Service Commitments to improve the quality of advice offered to members.
  • Accountable to ensure completeness and accuracy for all files including credit, investments and estate portfolios.
  • Accountable to ensure the daily management of all cash within the branch, night deposit, ATM’s, MSR’s balancing, and all other controls are in place and properly adhered to.
  • May act as Joint Treasury Custodian
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all PenFinancial products and services and their related features and benefits.
  • Follow audit, compliance, risk management, delinquency, fraud, robbery policies and procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager, develop and implement branch strategies, goals, objectives, budgets, expense controls and overall branch efficiencies.
  • Promote PenFinancial Credit Union in your community by participating and being involved in community activities or events while demonstrating Our Commitment.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • As required, oversee tenant relationships and corresponding premises related issues.
  • Act as an ambassador of PenFinancial by looking for opportunities to promote products and services and seek referrals from members and non-members.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Educational requirements:

  • PFP or CFP designation is required.
  • Mutual Funds license under MFDA which includes completion of the following: Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) or Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
