Job Description

Cleaners perform a wide range of duties to keep a business tidy. Cleaners are responsible for the cleaning of all public areas to include entrances, doorways, sidewalks, public restrooms, all staff areas, offices, kitchens, bars and exits, gaming and non-gaming floors and hotel rooms.

The main responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Follows all required safety and standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Responsible for all cleaning in and around the Complex, Office buildings and Hotel areas including rooms.
  • Cleans floors and rooms on the complex, including dust, mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, picking up objects off the floor, empty dust bins and spot cleaning glass and windows.
  • Cleans restrooms, including restocking dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning partition doors and walls, sweeping and mopping tile floors, and cleaning toilets and urinals.
  • Sets up stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Monitors and maintains sanitation and organization of assigned areas.
  • Transports dirty operating equipment or linen to correct areas for cleaning and restock areas with clean operating equipment or linen
  • Assists other departments or employees when needed to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Performs additional duties as and when required by management
  • Filling supplies, such as toilet paper and paper towels
  • Coordinating duties with other cleaners
  • Ordering new cleaning supplies as needed
  • Report maintenance issues to the maintenance department
  • Utilise the Omni system

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
  • Previous work experience in hospitality and cleaning would be an added advantage.
  • Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills & problem-solving abilities especially with guests and co-workers on complex
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Follows all required safety and standard operating procedures.
  • Adheres to all company and regulatory policies.  Report any misconduct to Head of Department/Manager
  • Must be able to clean to the specified standards in all operating procedure documents and policies
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
