Job Description
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that PayZeep adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role involves conducting quality assurance reviews of KYC documents, implementing compliance plans, maintaining PEP and UBO registers, reviewing and updating policies, and conducting internal and external audits. The Compliance Specialist will also provide advisory support on KYC-related inquiries and take action in non-compliance situations, reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.
- Conduct first/second-level reviews of KYC documents provided by customers.
- Ensure that all required documents are appropriately submitted for the subscribed products.
- Identify and rectify any discrepancies or missing information in KYC submissions.
- Implement and oversee annual field compliance plans across the agent/merchant base of PayZeep.
- Ensure that field agents adhere to compliance standards and practices.
- Maintain up-to-date Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) registers.
- Ensure these registers comply with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Actively review and update company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all policies are aligned with current legislation and best practices.
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee both internal and external audit procedures.
- Monitor and detect any instances of misconduct or non-compliance.
- Recommend and implement solutions for any compliance issues detected.
- Follow up to ensure all non-compliance issues are resolved.
- Provide general advisory support and guidance on KYC-related inquiries.
- Assist internal stakeholders in understanding and applying compliance requirements.
- Conduct CDD and EDD on PayZeep customers.
- Ensure thorough and accurate assessment of customer risk profiles.
- Address non-compliance situations promptly.
- Develop realistic plans to resolve compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Report to the Chief Compliance Officer regarding the organization’s compliance status with AML/CFT/CPF and CDD laws and regulations.
- Provide regular updates on compliance initiatives and outcomes.
- Handle any other tasks assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.
Qualifications
- BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as a Compliance Specialist or similar role
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Documenting and reporting skills
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Compliance Specialist
- Knowledge of legal requirements and controls in areas such as Anti-Money Laundering.
