As the Senior Director of Technical Program Management, you will be a key driver of efficiency, growth, and scalability at PayNearMe. This role focuses on establishing and scaling strategic technical program management practices to align operational processes with long-term business objectives. Reporting to the VP of Business Operations and partnering closely with our Product and Engineering leadership, you will oversee and ensure the delivery of our total portfolio of technical projects and programs. You will evaluate, implement, and enhance project management best practices to strengthen program teams, tools, and communication channels. You will act as a player coach and lead our highest priority programs while also focusing on building, developing, and mentoring a high-performing TPM team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your technical depth and strategic leadership will be crucial in aligning processes with business goals, promoting team growth, and maintaining high standards of delivery excellence to achieve our company’s objectives.
Job Description
Leadership and Governance:
- Provide oversight and program leadership across PayNearMe’s technical project and program portfolio to drive successful execution.
Operational Excellence:
- Determine and implement technical project management best practices to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
- Lead the organization to streamline processes, simplify and accelerate execution, manage objectives and key results, release on time, and bring tooling efficiencies.
- Own and continuously improve the efficiency and consistency of technical delivery.
- Collaborate to identify systemic inefficiencies and implement data-driven solutions to address them.
Program and Project Management:
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and other business partners to develop and implement strategic technical program plans, aligning with organizational goals and cross-functional collaboration.
- Promote clear visibility and elevate progress updates across senior leadership teams, executives, internal project team members, and stakeholders to create, measure, and communicate program goals, plans, milestones, timelines, and metrics for projects.
- Manage all aspects of programs, including defining and executing prioritization, mobilizing cross-functional teams, project execution tracking of milestones and schedules, resource planning and management, risks/issues remediation, and providing program management expertise to deliver impactful business and customer outcomes.
- Drive the scalability of processes and tools to support growing teams and increased project complexity.
- Leverage your deep technical expertise to inform technical decisions, mitigate risks, and act as a thought partner for your counterparts in product and engineering.
Release Management:
- Oversee the release management process ensuring timely, high-quality software deployments.
Team Leadership and Growth:
- Lead efforts to scale and standardize the TPM function across the organization, creating frameworks and fostering innovation.
- Play the role of player coach and balance leading technical programs while hiring, inspiring, and coaching a team of TPMs to lead the team to build trusted partnerships across internal teams, and grow domain expertise.
- Develop talent within the team by establishing mentorship programs, professional development opportunities, and cross-training initiatives.
- Be a culture carrier, connecting the organization to the company’s core values.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of technical program management experience, leading complex technology projects and programs.
- 5+ years of people management experience leading teams to deliver technical programs or products from inception to delivery.
- Proven experience identifying and addressing systemic inefficiencies and scaling technical programs.
- Experience building, growing, and leading a technical program management organization.
- Expertise with Agile and Scrum frameworks and the application in product development and delivery.
- Proven communication skills
- Proven interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team
- Proven ability to influence across virtual teams and disparate stakeholder groups.
- Strategic, organizational thinker with a track record of strengthening program governance and controls within an organization.
Additional Information
Location: Flexible/Remote (within the US)
Salary Range: $190,000 - 240,000
