We are connecting software engineers and hiring teams at startups. Our goal is to offer a radically different approach to interviewing where engineers have more choice in defining their interview processes, beginning with who they speak to first. Startups hiring on Passive will let engineers skip the standard recruiter phone screen and choose whether to speak to a potential peer or hiring manager first.

From our user research we've found that 97% of engineers are not happy with the status quo for how interviews commence. Engineering talent is scarce and hiring teams know how difficult it is to identify, attract, and hire the right people. Meanwhile, engineers are bombarded with low quality engineering messages and calls, tainting the candidate experience. Hiring teams are willing to be flexible on their hiring processes for great, passively looking candidates. Our solution is to pass over some of that flexibility in the interview process from the hiring teams to the engineering candidates.

Job Description

  • Architect and develop the initial MVP for our matchmaking platform
  • Help define a product roadmap and weigh in on feature discussions
  • Collaborate with design team to prioritize features, give feedback on technical challenges associated with new features, and communicate progress on code
  • Lead engineering hiring and demonstrate an advanced understanding of what makes a great candidate experience when interviewing engineers

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional web application development experience
  • Ability to build scalable, complex web applications end to end
  • Clear and concise communication
  • Willingness to take a risk on an early stage startup, potentially for a huge reward 
  • No ego and kind demeanor is a must
